Super Lawyers® is a rating service for the nation’s best attorneys from more than 70 practice areas, and the Rising Stars list is an additional ranking system reserved for lawyers who have been in practice for 10 years or less OR are 40 years of age or younger.
To select the top attorneys in each state, Super Lawyers® uses an evaluation system involving four main phases:
- Nominations. A lawyer is nominated by their peers, mentioned in a managing partner survey or third-party feedback, or identified by the Super Lawyers research team. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves or campaign.
- Independent Research. Super Lawyers judges the candidate using 12 different indicators (e.g. verdicts, settlements, experience, professional activities, pro bono work, etc.).
- Peer Evaluation. Members of the Blue Ribbon Panel evaluate the leading candidates in their practice area.
- Final Selection. The top 5% of each state’s lawyers are selected to Super Lawyers, and the top 2.5% are selected to Rising Stars.
