The Joseph A. Vail Asylum Law Workshop was recently hosted by the University of Houston Law Center on Friday, September 9th, 2017. This event is a fantastic source of legal knowledge for up-and-coming law students and practice veterans who want to represent clients in immigration court. Houston Immigration Attorney Susham Modi of The Modi Law Firm, PLLC served as a keynote speaker of the workshop due to his unrivaled insight into immigration law and concerns in the current political climate.
Professor-Attorney Modi spoke to the attendees about Preparing for the Hearing on the Merits – Direct, Cross, Objections, Pre-Trial Motion Practice. This topic is of particular importance today since many immigrants, especially those seeking asylum or refugee status, feel as if they do not have any voice or choice when it comes to immigration proceedings. Under the theme of understanding right to counsel and ethics in immigration law cases, Mr. Modi covered various ways an immigration law client’s rights could be protected and best interests upheld during litigation.
From everyone at our Houston immigration law office, we would like to thank everyone who made this incredible opportunity for Attorney Modi possible. Sincere thanks must be extended to the University of Houston Law Center, everyone who organized the Joseph A. Vail Asylum Law Workshop, and all the great legal minds who chose to attend. Of course, we want to show appreciation for our clients, who have trusted in our abilities for years and been integral in our growing reputation for excellence.
