The Modi Law Firm, PLLC is pleased to announce that Attorney Susham Modi has been honored by the Tahirih Justice Center. Attorney Modi serves as a Clinical Attorney at the center and was recognized for the compassionate and generous work he does for the center's visitors.
According to the University of Houston Law Center, the Tahirih Justice Center is the only national legal resource serving immigrant women and girls who have been victims of gender-based violence. The center provides advocacy, training, education, and direct legal services.
Attorney Modi, who also serves as Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center, was honored alongside Professor Geoffrey A. Hoffman for their respective work with the center at a September 26 gala held at The Houstonian. In a multimedia presentation highlighting their work, a quote from Attorney Modi was featured:
"Tahirih personifies the statement that we treat each other like family, as we all do come from the same place, and shows its commitment to others by helping women who are often in dire positions of being abused or severely harmed if returned abroad."
This is not the first time that Attorney Modi has been recognized for his work in the immigration practice area. Last year, he was included in Houstonia Magazine's Top 2014 Lawyers list and has been notified that he will again be listed as a top lawyer for this current year of 2015. He also remains committed to community work and education. He formerly worked at Harvard Law School and has held frequent speaking engagements addressing immigration issues, including for Asylum Officers, State Court Felony Judges, and American Immigration Lawyers Association, among others.
